Options - A shorter walk can be made by walking along the river into Marchington and the same way back.  Please not if the river is flooded it is possible to walk back Via Watery Lane. Although a quiet back lane care should be taken. People do often walk this lane.

 

From the station head into town and over the railway bridge away from town

Head up Highwood road on the footpath past Kingfisher way.  As the road bends to the right, there is a footpath off to the left.

Follow the path to Toothill road Turn Left for a short distance to the style, Head diagonally across the field to the left hand Corner.

 

Follow the path down until you reach the Marchington road.

Cross and follow the path through the fields to Hodge lane. Cross over

 

Follow the path to Stock land and turn right along the lane=, then left along woodroff's Lane.

Either stay on the lane turning left a few hundred yards further on or turn off at the valley bottom and follow the dogleg path the where the two path meet. 

Follow the path  along the valley bottom until a footbridge over the stream, Turn left and head up hill to another cross roads in the path then turn left

 

As you can see on the map there are a lot of alternative ways through the section we have just followed.

Follow the path descending gently to the valley bottom.  Care is needed as the path can be difficult to see in places.  Cross the foot bridge and keep heading straight to the main road.

 

Turn Left and then right down jacks lane. In a few hundred yards there is a path off to the right follow this ensuring that  you turn right by the stream. (you may with to carry on and see more of the village) this brings you out by a small bridge. Turn right and the dog & partridge is just ahead of you..

 

Exit the pub and turn right, follow the lane up the hill into the village centre, at the t junction turn left and then next right on Bag Lane. The bulls head is on your left.  Exit the pub and turn left.

At the T-junction follow the footpath straight up.  (There is a path to the left that will take you to watery lane should you wish to take that route back.) Carry straight up  and cross watery lane, Head down to towards the railway line following the path to the left and then under the railway,

Turn left and follow the path back to the station by the side of the river Dove and the railway..  The path heads back to the station
